The Duff Review

The DUFF: Designated Ugly Fat Friend - Kody Keplinger

I absolutely loved this book! While I had heard a lot of good reviews on it, I was not prepared for how completely amazing this story is. When I first started it, I wasn't really enjoying the concept of the plot, but the character development and the development between all the characters was awesome. This book is about Bianca, a high school student who is dealing with a lot in her life. When the most popular guy in her school, Wesley, tells her she's the Duff (the designated, ugly, fat friend) in her group of friends, she can't help but let it get to her. This book deals with some very real issues that a lot of teenagers and young adults go through in life and I really loved the heartbreaking feels in this book! I highly, highly recommend it, especially to contemporary lovers.

Anatomy of a Single Girl

Anatomy of a Single Girl - Daria Snadowsky

This was a short, fast read. I didn't love it, but I thought it was funny and very honest. I would highly recommend this book to teenage girls, but it was a little young for me, even though the main character was in college. I felt like all the characters, especially the main character, were immature, but I did find it humorous.

Wait For You Review

Wait for You - J. Lynn

This was a cute read and I enjoyed it. This book follows Avery, a young college student who is trying to put her family and her past behind her when she meets Cam, her neighbour and classmate. While Avery tries to tell herself she's not interested in Cam, they become so attracted to each other that they can't stay away.

While I did enjoy the story and the characters, I didn't love this book as much as I've loved other Jennifer L. Armentrout books. I did pick up the companion novel, "Be With Me" and I'm excited to read it.

Throne of Glass Review

Throne of Glass - Sarah J. Maas

This was such an awesome read! I loved everything about this book, especially the main character. This fantasy book follows Celaena Sardothien, a young assassin who has spent the past year in a prison camp. She is taken out of the prison to compete for the title of the King's champion. This book had so many twists and turns and so much action and I really enjoyed it! I would highly recommend this to readers who enjoy fantasy, but I would also recommend it to readers who are skeptical about entering the fantasy genre. This was definitely a must-read.

Clockwork Angel Review

Clockwork Angel - Cassandra Clare

This was a re-read for me and I loved it just as much as the first time I read it. I love most of the characters in this book and I love all the action and creepiness in the story as well. I'm re-reading this series because I haven't read Clockwork Princess yet and I really want to complete the trilogy. I think this series really has something for everyone. It has historical fiction, romance, action, and fantasy. It's definitely a series I would recommend to anyone.

White Hot Kiss Review

White Hot Kiss - Jennifer L. Armentrout

I picked up this book because I was definitely on a book hangover from finishing the first four books in Jennifer L. Armentrout's Lux series. This was such a fun and exciting read, just like the Lux series. It was pretty addictive and I really enjoyed the story. The book is about a young girl named Layla who is half warden and half demon. She was raised by wardens though, so she has always been taught to hate and hunt demons. That is, until she meets Roth, a young but powerful demon who shows her that there are two sides to everything. As Layla discovers more about her demon heritage and where she really came from, she is caught between her loyalty to her warden family and her new friendship with Roth. The ending definitely has me anticipating the sequel, which doesn't come out until October! I am counting down the days until I can continue this awesome series! Jennifer L. Armentrout is definitely becoming one of my new favorite authors!

Origin Review

Origin - Jennifer L. Armentrout

I definitely didn't enjoy this book as much as I enjoyed Opal, but I still loved it!!! I love the characters and all the twists. I love how everything in this series is completely unexpected. I felt like this book had a bit of a different feel than the first three books, but it was still packed with action and romance. Words cannot describe how addicted I am to this series! I can't wait for the fifth book to come out in August!!!

The Program Review

The Program - Suzanne Young

The Program by Suzanne Young is the first in this dystopian duology. The story follows a young girl named Sloane who lives in a world where teenage suicide is an epidemic that affects every 1/3 teens. The cure to this epidemic is the Program. All Sloane knows about the Program is that teens get taken there against their will when they become infected with depression; and when they return, they remember practically nothing from their life before. Sloane and her boyfriend, James, are desperate to stay out of the Program, but since Sloane's brother, who was also James' best friend, committed suicide, both Sloane and James are being watched for any signs of infection, because in this not-so-distant future, suicide is contagious. I gave this book 4/5 because I really enjoyed the story and the originality of it. The book is very sad, though, but I am really excited to read the sequel, which comes out April 29th.

Hopeless Review

Hopeless - Colleen Hoover

This was the first Colleen Hoover book I've ever read and I had heard that her books are amazing so I wanted to give it a go. This book was not at all what I was expecting; it was so emotional and heart breaking. The book follows a young girl named Sky who lives with her adopted mother and has been home-schooled her whole life until she convinces her mom to let her attend a public high school for her senior year of high school. Sky then meets a boy named Holder, who has a mysterious past and seems to take a serious interest in Sky. There isn't a whole lot more I can say about the plot because most of the things that make up this book would be spoilers. The whole book is really a mystery and filled with twists. The first half of the book appeared to be light and funny and romantic, but the second half of the book really blew me away. Colleen Hoover addressed some serious issues in this book and in my opinion, she did a fantastic job at it. I really loved this book and I loved the ending.

Faking It Review

Faking It - Cora Carmack

Cora Carmack has definitely impressed me again with her witty dialogue, humorous situations, and seriously raw emotions in this second book of her companion series. Faking it is the story of Max, a young woman who is hiding who she really is from her seemingly perfect family. She panics when her parents show up for a surprise visit, though, and asks a stranger to pretend to be her perfect boyfriend while her parents are visiting. Lucky for her, the stranger she approaches is Cade, a young acting student who is immediately attracted to Max. As their façade goes further and further in an effort to impress Max's parents, both Max and Cade's feelings for each other become more complicated.

This book had me hooked from the first chapter and I was barely able to put it down. I loved the character of Max for both her strength and her hidden weaknesses. I think both her and Cade are characters a lot of people can relate with because their pasts and their problems are so real.

While I really enjoyed this book, I did not love it as much as Finding It by Cora Carmack, which is the third book in this series. But, it was still an entertaining read that kept me emotionally invested.

Opal Review

Opal - Jennifer L. Armentrout

This book was even better than the first two books in the series, which I didn't think was possible! So much happened in this book that blew me away. I was not expecting any of it. The twists and turns this book took were surprising and I loved everything about it! There was definitely an embarrassing amount tears at the end. I cannot wait to start the fourth book to see what happens next!

On the Island Review

On the Island - Tracey Garvis-Graves

On the Island is a novel about a teacher named Anna who takes a summer job on a vacation island with a family tutoring their sixteen year old son, T.J., who is in remission from cancer and needs to catch up on school work. On their way to the meet T.J.'s family, T.J. and Anna's plane crashes and they are washed ashore a remote, deserted island. The book takes place over the course of years and the longer Anna and T.J. are on the island, the bond between them grows into love.

I absolutely loved this book! The story was beautiful and I could not have asked for a more perfect ending. The two main characters were really well developed, especially the character of T.J. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of love stories. It was beautiful and unique and just perfect.

Onyx Review

Onyx - Jennifer L. Armentrout

I may have liked this second book of the Lux series even more than I liked the first book! There was never a dull moment. I am completely hooked on this series! I can't wait to read the third book and also more books by Jennifer L. Armentrout.

Cruel Beauty Review

Cruel Beauty - Rosamund Hodge

Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge is a YA fantasy retelling of the story of Beauty and the Beast, but it also contains a lot of Greek mythology in it as well. I can't really describe how I felt about this book. I only gave it 3/5 stars because I found that I was not enjoying it for most of the story. I didn't like the character, Shade, for most of the novel. I did, however, love the characters of Nyx and Ignifex. I also really loved the Greek mythology aspect of it. I think the main reason I didn't enjoy it was because it gave me so many mixed emotions. I thought it was well written and I liked the overall concept of the story, but just certain small things I didn't like added up and, even though I read it very quickly, I didn't enjoy it as much as I wanted to.

Obsidan Review

Obsidian - Jennifer L. Armentrout

I really enjoyed this book! It's definitely one of those guilty pleasure reads that's completely addicting. I knew I would love it before I started it. I thought the first half of the book was a little slow. I kept waiting for the main character, Katy, to find out that her neighbours and friends, Daemon and Dee, were aliens. But after she did find out, I was totally hooked. I'm really looking forward to reading the second book. Hopefully, that will be very soon.

Just Ordered...

I am so excited to get both of these books! I just ordered them from Amazon and cannot wait to read both of them!
